Peformance & Music Cross operates three diverse music ensembles, each with its own personality and focus.
The Cross Community Gospel Choir focuses primarily on a joyous style of music, sung in a traditional gospel fashion, generally accompanied by piano, organ and drums. All music is learned by ear and performed without sheet music. The Community Gospel Choir is led by Eric Lawson.
Rehearsals: Most Saturdays, 11:00-12:00 in the Sanctuary.
The Cross Praise Choir focuses primarily on arranged choral music and hymns (often in 4-part harmony), including both traditional and contemporary pieces. Performances may be a capella or accompanied by piano or CD track. The ability to read music is not required, but is helpful as sheet music is often provided. The Cross Praise Choir is led by director Chuck Ellingson with assistance from Emory Churness.
Rehearsals: Most Saturdays, 12:30-1:30 in the Sanctuary.
performs music, drama and other forms of expression in praise of God. The group consists primarily of those 18 and younger, plus a few participating adults. The Youth Praise Team is led by Judy Ellwanger and Bonnie Williams.
